Halloween on Central is a wickedly fun, family-friendly, and FREE event that showcases our vision for what a car-free Central Avenue could look like for locals, businesses, and visitors to enjoy.
Dog Bar will be a featured spot in this huge event with a pet costume parade, small dog races, dog trick-or-treating, DJ Shannon C, and Jell-O Shots benefitting Skyway Dachshund Rescue and Limbo Chihuahua Rescue. 
This event is a collaboration with the City of St. Petersburg, Grand Central District, EDGE District, and Open Streets St. Pete, Car-Free St. Pete is shutting down 22 blocks of Central Avenue, from MLK Jr. St to 31st Street, on October 29th, 2023.
Attendees can stroll & roll along nearly 2 miles of the city’s largest open spaces and experience the heart of St. Pete from a unique perspective that will allow them to rediscover their favorite local businesses and interact with the community in fun, healthy ways.
There will be fun Halloween-themed activities fit for the whole family, such as trick-or-treating, costume contests, entertainment, local business vendors, and more. Pets are welcome, too! Wearing face masks is highly encouraged.
Vehicles allowed: Bikes, skateboards, roller skates, one wheels, hoverboards, e-scooters.
Vehicles NOT allowed: Golf carts, slingshots, motorcycles, and other large motorized vehicles.

Costume Parade

  1. Entrance is free! 
  2. Categories include: Best Ensemble, Most Creative, Funniest, etc.
  3. Please meet at the race track at 4pm for the parade around in a circle. There is no need to sign up.
  4. This is an all ages, kid friendly event and there are no spay and neuter requirements to join in these festivities on the street.

Rules for the Races

  1. Race entry is $5 and goes to the 501c3 as a donation
  2. Dogs will be run in rounds of 4 contestants and paired with their closest age, weight and breed groups. 
  3. Pups who place in their first round will go on to the Championship round to finish off the day. 
  4. Your dog must have proof of updated shots.  If this is your first visit, please also register in our membership database. You can find the registration form by clicking on the membership button on the menu above. 
  5. Participating dogs will not be required to pay the $7 day pass entrance to enter Dog Bar with your dog. So please make sure to sign up and pay before race day. 
  6. All Dog Bar rules and requirements still apply to all dogs entering the off-leash yard. Patrons must be 21 & older, dogs must be fixed and up to date on shots. 
  7. The costume parade, small dog races, trick or treating, rescue fundraiser and DJ will be accessible on the street! All dogs and all ages are welcome!

Race details:

Chihuahua race will be held a separate fenced area and the first round will begin at 1pm.  Rounds run 20-30 mins with short breaks between each round. The winner of each race and runner up will move on to the semi-final race. And then the semi-final winners and runner up will race in the last race of the day around 3pm.  Prizes and medals will be given out to the winners! And 100% of proceeds raised from raffles, race entries and Jell-O shots will go to the rescues, Limbo Chihuahua & Skyway Dachshund Rescue
